Ohio SPCA Response Team takes Action

March 19, 2014

On March 19, the Ohio SPCA Response Team arrived at a Ross County property in order to assist Humane Officer Young in the removal of 6 starving horses. The horses were surrendered to the Ohio SPCA and then transported to an equine hospital. All of the horses were emaciated with body scores of 1 to 1.5 out of 9. Most were anemic and/or infections. All 6 horses have recovered and are currently in Ohio SPCA foster homes. The owners were each charged with 6 counts of animal cruelty and a jury trial has been scheduled.
