Abused, Neglected, and Allowed to Suffer

Eight horses in horrendous condition were rescued by the Ohio SPCA. All eight horses had belonged to the same person. All of them were suffering from malnutrition and several were covered with wounds, sores, and fungal infections. More than one had an upper respiratory infection, and for poor Ginger every breath taken was painful. A mare named Precious was near death upon arrival. Her body condition score was -1 on a scale of 9. Her right hind leg was massively swollen with pus that had to be drained.

Despite veterinarian reports and massive photographic evidence provided by the Ohio SPCA, the county sheriff's department and prosecutor would not charge the owner with cruelty to animals. Although, justice was not served, eight horses were rescued. Seven of the horses recovered. Sadly, Millie did not make it. Her baby, Molly, has been adopted.
