RESCUED! This sweet gelding was transported to Woodland Run Equine Veterinary Facility today. There is not much left of him, as his fat and muscle have wasted away. His body is covered with fungus and his hair is falling out. Dr. Beinlich scrubbed open sores and he was given a medicated bath. With a body condition score of 1, this boy has a long road to travel before he is well again. Dr. Beinlich thinks he will make it.In the coming days, we will have more news on this cruelty case. We are currently working with county officials - the humane society and sheriff's dept.
UPDATE: Our new boy is hanging in there! He's getting the royal treatment at Woodland Run Equine Veterinary Facility. Obviously, the blanket could not conceal his emaciated body. It did cover most of his sores and bare skin where his hair is falling out from a serious fungal infection. Dr. Beinlich has been given the honor of naming this gelding. He is an awesome vet with such true compassion and love for horses. Under Dr. Beinlich's guidance, we will travel the road to recovery with this sweet boy.
