Meet Sam the Dachshund
February 2020
Sam was recently surrendered to the Ohio SPCA when his elderly owner could no longer care for him or herself. Sam is 17 years-old. Yes, Sam’s nails were overgrown and he had never been neutered. One thing we do know for sure is that Sam was loved for 17 years. It is important that elderly people be looked in on. Sometimes they need help with the animals they love.
In most shelters, animals like Sam are not given a chance, but old age is not a death sentence with the Ohio SPCA. Sam landed softly in a place where he is being showered with love and the best of care. He was taken to the vet and given a complete work-up - x-rays, bloodwork, and a blood pressure test. All results were in the normal range which is good because Sam has a tumor in his scrotum. The vet believes the tumor if cancerous may not have spread. Sam is full of life and still runs and snoops around like Dachshunds like to do. He loves to be cuddled and he loves to eat!. As soon as Sam is neutered, we will find him that special home to live out the rest of his life. Unfortunately, every week animals arrive in poor or serious condition and we must seek outside veterinarian services which are very costly. Please consider a donation to help with Sam’s care.
