Ohio's Leading Voice for the Animals
Animal Hoarding Rescue
October 25, 2014
After a social worker with Adult Protective Services contacted the Ohio SPCA, members of the Ohio SPCA Response Team traveled to eastern Ohio in order to remove cats and one rooster. Living in darkness, these animals were not only sick, they had been deprived of fresh air and clean water and food. Words cannot describe the conditions in which these animals and the homeowner were living. It was shocking and heartbreaking.
Animal Hoarding is a mental illness. It is never the goal of the Ohio SPCA to shame these individuals. We want them to receive the help they need. We are grateful that Adult Protective Services stepped in and removed this individual from the home and made arrangements for her to be helped.
