In Memory of Masterpiece – $2,021.71 Donated to the Ohio SPCA

Butler County, Ohio – Outraged by the theft and killing of a baby alpaca named Masterpiece, Cole Fennel, a Madison High School senior took action. Cole first raised $1,500 to help the owners of Masterpiece, Jeff Pergram and Rebecca Hardin. As his efforts continued, Jeff and Rebecca told Cole about the Ohio SPCA, and it was decided that proceeds from a planned quarter action on Saturday, May 1 would be sent to the Ohio SPCA. The quarter auction was a success resulting in approximately $1,000 being raised. On May 8, Cole continued his fundraising efforts at the Madison Springfest, an annual community event, bringing collected donations to over $2,000.00! This young man is to be commended for his compassion and action. He is an inspiring role model for children and adults and a true voice for the animals.

The Ohio SPCA is honored to have been selected to receive donations in memory of Masterpiece. His death was tragic and heartbreaking. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Jeff and Rebecca. And to Cole Fennel, we send a huge THANK YOU!

The three individuals responsible for stealing Masterpiece and beating him to death have been charged with theft and animal cruelty. Please click the links below for more information.
