Animals Rescued from Pike County Puppy Mill

Update: In August 2004, the Pike County Humane Society requested the help of the Ohio SPCA in the removal, transport, and sheltering of dogs and puppies from a Pike County puppy mill. With the help of the Humane Society Serving Clark County and numerous rescue groups, 108 dogs and puppies were removed from deplorable conditions, transported to safety, and given medical treatment.
Thirteen months later, on October 3, 2005, Donald Hall was found guilty of two counts of animal cruelty, fined $100.00 on each count plus court costs, 60 days in jail suspended on each count, and three years probation with the Sheriff's Dept. conducting four random checks per year. He is permitted to own 25 dogs!
Apparently, Hall has been selling dogs and even his own attorney said, in front of Judge Salyer, that he will need to get rid of some dogs in order to abide by the 25 dog limit. This was a violation of the charges pending against him.
In November 2004, Hall was found guilty of domestic violence. He was ordered to take anger management classes and participate in domestic violence counseling. Disregarding the connection between animal abuse and domestic violence and the total neglect of these animals, Judge Salyer has allowed a man known to be violent to own 25 defenseless creatures!
Needless to say, Don Hall is back in business.

The dogs and puppies removed from the puppy mill have been placed in new forever homes where they are receiving the love and care they always deserved.

This sweet girl was born in one of these boxes and could have given birth to her next litter in this one. The hands that lifted her to freedom are now caring for her inside a real home.
