South Bloomingville Authorities Refuse to Investigate Dog Deaths

The Ohio SPCA was contacted about two dead dogs (a Chow and Shepherd mix) dumped in South Bloomingville, Ohio (Hocking County). During the weekend of November 28/29, their bodies were laid side by side and left near a rental cabin. The Ohio SPCA had the bodies transported to OSU for necropsies. Both dogs had body scores of 0.5/5. There was severe adipose atrophy meaning the bodies had wasted and there was NO fatty tissue left. Although toxins couldn’t be ruled out, we believe the dogs starved to death. There is no indication that authorities in Hocking County are going to further investigate the death of these dogs. We do believe the owner of the Chow is known. Volunteers have checked the property in question in order to check for animals in trouble or additional dog carcasses.
